Curriculum & Program Development

Developed during Dr. Austin’s tenure as a social-emotional coach, this program was created after identifying a critical need to better support students transitioning into middle school. By training 8th-grade students as mentors, the model cultivates leadership while providing 6th graders with guidance in academics, relationships, and self-advocacy. This work expanded into the creation and publication of the Middle School Survival Guide, now available on Amazon.

Program Goals

Lead with Purpose

Step into your power as a mentor and discover what it means to lift others up. Through this experience, 8th graders develop real leadership skills, learn to listen deeply, and gain the confidence that comes from making a genuine difference in someone's life.

Navigate the Middle School Journey Together

Walking into 6th grade can feel overwhelming, but with a trusted peer mentor by your side, everything changes. They allow for guidance in-between moments that define the middle school experience.

Build a Culture of Real Connection

Through peer accountability, empathy, and active advocacy, we're building a culture where everyone belongs, everyone's heard, and everyone rises together.
